Apart from wardrobe and props, there are other items you should consider bringing. Here is a list of essentials items that will help make your shoot proceed as smoothly as possible:
- Safety pins and wardrobe tape - These are great for securing clothing items, especially on a windy day
- Bobby pins - Super helpful to keep the grad cap in place and can fix any stray hairs
- Touch-up kit - Lipstick, eyeliner, powder, blotting papers, mascara, mirror, makeup remover wipes, lip balm, moisturizer, hairspray, comb
- Dental floss and mints - You just never know
- Water and snacks - You need to stay hydrated, especially if it is a very warm spring or summer day. Also, if you get ‘hangry’, best to stick in some snacks to keep you going, particularly if you have a longer session.
- A rolling suitcase or duffle bag - It is so much easier to pack all your gear in a bag you can roll. Bonus tip: pack your bag the night before so all you have to do is a double check before you leave the house.
- Flip flops or slippers - If your session is taking place on a campus or with any walking in between outfits or poses, make sure you aren’t wearing your heels.
- Props - What props are you bringing to your photoshoot? Lacrosse stick, football, varsity jacket. Or confetti poppers, balloons, a diploma.
- Cap and Gown - I don’t know how many times I need to remind people: bring your cap and gown!
- Outfits - Are you having photos taken with more than one outfit? Make sure you double check that you have all parts of the outfit including accessories like belts, ties, shoes, etc.
The better prepared you are, the smoother and more enjoyable your photoshoot session will be. My goal is for you to have a great time, feel at ease. Do you want a printable version of this list. Just send me an email and I'm happy to send it!
